Simple Speaker

Signal and coil controls

This simulator is intended to demonstrate the basic operation of a speaker:

Alternating Current → Alternating Magnetic Force → Diaphragm Motion

The alternating current in the moving coil interacts with the magnetic field of a stationary permanent magnet producing a force that moves the coil and attached diaphragm back and forth. The graphs show the applied current and diaphragm displacement.

This is a simplified demonstration in which diaphragm displacement is proportional to current, with no inertia, damping, resonance, or sound propagation modeled. The time scale is slowed for visibility and may not represent actual audio-frequency motion. Introducing mechanical resonance and phase shifts would make the model more realistic, but it would also introduce concepts that might distract from the primary learning objective.
